Perpaduan Keindahan Bawah Laut dan Sejarah Majapahit

Banyuwangi (beritajatim.com) – Bangsring Underwater tourism area in Wongsorejo District, Banyuwangi, now presents a new attraction for tourists. Under the Bali Strait, dozens of statues depicting Gajah Mada and the Majapahit warriors stand tall, beautifying the scenery.

Not only that, there is also a grand gate and a monument of Mas Bagus Wangsakarya that adds historical value to this tourist location.

Acting Regent of Banyuwangi, Sugirah, explained that Majapahit’s Warrior Underwater and the monument of Mas Bagus Wangsakarya have been officially opened to the public.

Mas Bagus Wangsakarya, or known as Buyut Cungking, is an important figure in the history of Banyuwangi. He was an advisor to Prabu Tawangalun during the Blambangan Kingdom.

“Today, we are inaugurating two monuments that have important meanings for the historical identity of Banyuwangi. This is not just a symbolic event, but a big step in strengthening the spirit of unity, collaboration, and advancing the tourism sector,” said Sugirah.

On that occasion, Sugirah also expressed his gratitude to the East Java Provincial Government for supporting the development of tourism in Banyuwangi. The Acting Governor of East Java, Adhy Karyono, also attended the inauguration and gave full support.

Sugirah is optimistic that the presence of Majapahit’s Warrior Underwater and the monument of Mas Bagus Wangsakarya will increase tourist visits to Bangsring Underwater Beach. This was also confirmed by the Consul General of Japan in Surabaya, Takeyama Kenichi, who added that Banyuwangi is a popular destination for Japanese tourists, especially in the Ijen Crater Nature Reserve.

“With this new spot, we hope that Japanese tourists will extend their stay to enjoy the beauty of the sea and learn about the history of Indonesia, especially the Majapahit Kingdom,” said Takeyama.

With this cultural and tourism collaboration, Banyuwangi is ready to welcome more tourists from various parts of the world.
