Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia’s Minister of Defense, and President Joko Widodo witnessed the Indonesian Navy’s fleet display in Jakarta Bay on Saturday (September 28). The military parade, which took place aboard the KRI Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat (RJW-992), showcased the Navy’s warships and defense equipment in both Sailing Pass and Flying Pass demonstrations.
Chief of Naval Staff, Muhammad Ali, revealed that a total of 55 ships participated in the Sailing Pass, ranging from large to small vessels. Additionally, 25 naval aircraft were featured in the Flying Pass, providing a grand aerial display of Indonesia’s defense capabilities.
The event showcased domestically produced defense equipment, with crew members aboard the passing ships waving to Jokowi and Prabowo as they observed the parade from the KRI Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat (RJW-992).
The displayed ships included Multi Role Light Frigates (MLRF), PKR and SIGMA-class warships, the KRI Dewa Ruci sailing ship, Combat Boats, Landing Platform Dock (LPD) class vessels, and the KRI Cakra 401 submarine. Various aircraft were also featured, such as Cassa NC-212, CN 235 MP, Bell 505 Jet Ranger X helicopters, and more.
Apart from naval assets, the parade also included ships from different Indonesian maritime agencies and fishing vessels from Indonesia’s fisheries fleet. The ceremony recognized the KRI Nanggala-402 with the Samkarya Nugraha Medal of Honor and honored President Jokowi with the prestigious Hiu Kencana Brevet from the Submarine Unit of the Indonesian Navy.
Key officials in attendance at the event included Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, State Secretary Pratikno, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
