Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia’s Minister of Defense and President-elect for the 2024-2029 term, recently conducted an official tour across Europe from July 24 to 31, 2024.
During his visit, Prabowo met with leaders from four different countries: French President Emmanuel Macron, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Upon arriving in each nation, Prabowo received warm receptions and farewells from the respective leaders.
In France, Prabowo engaged in discussions with Macron on global security issues and plans to enhance defense cooperation, including modernizing defense equipment and improving education and training in the defense sector. Prabowo also attended the Paris 2024 Olympics and met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino to discuss Indonesia’s football development.
Subsequently, Prabowo traveled to Serbia to meet with President Aleksandar Vucic, aiming to strengthen political dialogue and promote economic cooperation between the two countries.
Following his visit to Serbia, Prabowo visited Turkey to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Discussions with Erdoğan focused on commitments in defense and enhancing the capacities of both nations’ armed forces and defense industries.
Lastly, Prabowo visited Russia and held discussions with President Vladimir Putin on strengthening Indonesia-Russia cooperation in various fields, including education, tourism, food security, and defense. They also explored potential collaboration in nuclear energy and discussed Russia’s initiatives in Bali and Indonesia’s upcoming defense exhibition.
