Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect, moved President Joko Widodo to tears during the final plenary cabinet meeting at Istana Garuda, Ibu Kota Nusantara, East Kalimantan. This emotional moment was shared by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
During the meeting, Prabowo expressed deep gratitude to Jokowi for his leadership over the past 10 years as Indonesia’s 7th president. His heartfelt appreciation marked the transition of leadership, leaving President Jokowi visibly emotional.
Prabowo also affirmed his commitment to continue the work initiated by Jokowi, including the development of Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) and the construction of important government buildings. He emphasized the importance of unity and progress for the country, urging against any attempts to create division between him and Jokowi.
As the government transitions, Prabowo assured a smooth continuation of projects and a seamless transition for civil servants to the new capital. The focus remains on advancing the country together, with unity as the key priority.
