Moscow – Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto described Russia as a ‘good friend’ and expressed his intention to continue strengthening the relationship.
“Russia has assisted us (Indonesia) in various ways when we faced challenges. Russia was there to support us during those difficult times,” Prabowo mentioned during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Russia, on Wednesday (31/7).
He also highlighted Russia’s support in enhancing Indonesia’s defense and military capabilities. As the defense minister, Prabowo emphasized the solid collaboration between Indonesia and Russia.
“I want to emphasize that this partnership will persist when I officially become Indonesia’s president on October 20,” he reiterated.
Moreover, Prabowo disclosed that he has been actively communicating and holding discussions with Putin’s team, specifically focusing on the defense industry.
“I have engaged with key figures in your industry, particularly in the defense sector, and have been engaging in fruitful discussions over the past few months to outline a plan for enhancing cooperation between Indonesia and Russia,” Prabowo concluded.
