Doha – The President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 period, Prabowo Subianto, along with Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, attended the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha on April 15, 2024.
During the forum, Prabowo, a speaker at the event, was questioned about his upcoming leadership style. He emphasized that he would stay true to himself in order to bring prosperity to the Indonesian people.
“I will remain true to myself, sincerely. This means staying loyal to principles, values, and ideals as a patriot. The well-being of my people is my core value. It is the dream of every patriot around the world for their people to be safe, well-fed, and living a good life,” stated Prabowo.
Additionally, Prabowo made it clear that his previous military background would not influence his policies, particularly when it comes to democracy in his governance.
“I have been out of the military for over 25 years. So, any notions of militancy are irrelevant and have no bearing on anything,” Prabowo firmly stated. “As for democracy, why not ask the Indonesian people? I have run for election four times and sought the approval of the Indonesian people three times. They did not approve until now. So, where is the concern for democracy? I believe it is fabricated by a few. I will strive tirelessly not to let down my people. Our goal is to leave behind a positive legacy in the history of our country,” he added, receiving applause from the audience.
He expressed his eagerness to serve based on a genuine desire to enhance the well-being of the Indonesian people and to offer his insights and leadership expertise.
“I have witnessed poverty in many countries where I was raised. It is unacceptable to me in this day and age. Indonesia is a G20 member and the fourth most populous country worldwide. Yet, many of my people still live in extreme hardship. This is what motivates me. I am committed to making a difference. I want to contribute my knowledge and experience to better the lives of my people,” Prabowo concluded.
