Prabowo Subianto, President-elect of Indonesia for the period 2024-2029, met with the leader of Qatar, Emir Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday (15/5).
“May His Highness be healthy and prosperous, continued success, and may Qatar continue to progress and prosper,” said Prabowo.
During the meeting, Prabowo was accompanied by Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The discussion focused on enhancing relations between the two countries, particularly in the defense sector.
Emir Qatar expressed his hopes to Prabowo and Gibran for the further development of the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
Following that, Prabowo and Gibran held a meeting with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.
During the meeting, Prabowo and the Qatari PM discussed the situation in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
“Thank you for the warm welcome. May the relationship and friendship between Indonesia and Qatar always remain strong, for the benefit of both countries,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo and Gibran were also welcomed at the Amiri Diwan Palace by Qatar’s Minister of Defense H.E. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, Chief of Amiri Diwan H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
