Prabowo Subianto, the President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term, had a meeting with the leader of Qatar, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday (15/5). During the meeting, Prabowo conveyed his well wishes for the Emir’s health and prosperity, as well as the continued success and progress of Qatar.
Accompanied by Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Prabowo discussed strengthening relations between the two countries, with a focus on defense. The Emir of Qatar also expressed his hopes for further development in the bilateral relationship.
Following that, Prabowo and Gibran met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani. The discussions during this meeting also touched on the developments in Gaza and the Palestinian occupied territories.
Prabowo expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relations and friendship between Indonesia and Qatar for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The meeting at the Amiri Diwan Palace was attended by Qatar’s Minister of Defense, H.E. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, the Chief of the Amiri Diwan, H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
