Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player, is reportedly getting closer to Real Madrid as a video surfaced revealing his departure from PSG.
The farewell video of Mbappe was disclosed by Italian football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, through his X account (previously Twitter). In his post, Romano mentioned that the 25-year-old player will leave PSG in June 2024 when his contract with the club ends.
“Hi, this is Kylian. I always said that I want to talk to you when the time comes,” Mbappe expressed, as quoted on Thursday (May 16, 2024).
“So I want to announce to you that this is my last year at PSG. I will not extend [the contract],” he continued.
With the statement in the video, the rumor of Mbappe moving to Real Madrid on a free transfer is growing stronger. Moreover, PSG President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, has acknowledged that Mbappe has reached an agreement with Los Blancos.
As reported by AS, even though Mbappe is expected to become the highest-paid player in the main squad of Real Madrid, the French National Team player must accept a “downgrade” in salary.
Spanish media mentioned that Mbappe’s new contract at Madrid will be almost two-thirds lower than his salary during his time at PSG, “only” 25 million euros or around Rp432.39 billion per year after tax (assuming an exchange rate of Rp17,295/euro).
For your information, Mbappe reportedly earned a gross income of 72 million euros or Rp1.24 trillion per year before tax from PSG. Meanwhile, his weekly salary from Les Parisiens was 6 million euros or around Rp103.75 billion.
Despite the significant decrease in PSG and Real Madrid’s salaries, Mbappe can still be claimed as the highest-paid player at Santiago Bernabeu.
